Fictional Career Portfolio
What career interests you?  What would you have to do to pursue this career?  Research the career and find a job description, salary, duties, etc.

Create a persona that is employed in the career you are interested in.  What kind of personality would be best suited for this job?   How would someone in this field have to dress?  How would a person in this field act?  Decide what she/he is going to look like.

What is their job environment like?  What are some pressures from their job?  How did they get their jobs?  What kind of job is it? How well are they handling their stress?

What kind of family life can a person in this occupation expect?  Would they be able to have children?  What kind of house would they be able to afford?

Write a one page description of your persona with all of the information you gathered.   
                           Activities:

Resume:
Write a resume in the name of your persona.  Include educational experiences and job experiences that are necessary for the company and the position your persona is employed in.  For example, what university did your persona attend?  What was their major?  What degree did they obtain?  What kind of internship did they do?  What other job experiences have they had? 

Personal Letters:
Your persona is very overwhelmed at work.  They are having difficulty meeting their family responsibilities.
Write a letter to a family member describing your current work situation.

Letter to a boyfriend/girlfriend explaining why they were not able to be there for a life threatening surgery.  Cite work related stress as reason. 
     Letter to a friend complaining about a project at work.  Be specific about the project details.
     Letter to mother explaining why she/he missed Grandpa's funeral.  Cite job stress as reason. 
     Letter to dead dog explaining why they forgot to feed them.  Cite job stressors as reason.  Be specific.


Business Letters:
Your persona is experiencing some difficulties adjusting to the pressures of their workload.  They have been forced to seek help.  They are exhibiting strange behavior and their associates are concerned.

Letter from psychiatrist to employer describing your persona's mental illness and treatment.
     Letter from employer to psychiatrist detailing weird behavior in the office and asking for assistance in handling emotional outbursts in the workplace.
     Letter from landlord to police department asking assistance in dealing with emotional tenant.
     Letter from department store owner to employees warning them of irrational customer who may attack describing behavior he/she may exhibit.


Business Memo:
Write a memo from the perspective of your persona to your fellow co-workers complaining about behavior he/she finds offending. 

Newspaper Article:
Your persona has received attention from a newspaper due to their involvement in a dramatic event. 

    
Suggested Topics:  
    
Article about your persona's involvement in a crime.  Job related. 
     Article about your persona's involvement in a fire or other emergency situation.  Job related. 
     Article about a heroic event your persona was involved in.  Job related.


Scrap Book:
Your persona has been ordered to take a vacation.  Compile a scrapbook with pictures of persona's vacation with captions explaining the pictures.  Should be in keeping with they persona you have developed so far.  Persona does not necessarily have to be in the pictures. 

Diary Entry:
Your persona needs to unburden himself/herself.  Write a diary entry from their perspective to discuss any job stress they are having and how they are dealing with it.
